Grosse Pointe South 2022 CB Will Johnson knew he would be getting scholarship offers eventually and having a huge role on the Blue Devils Varsity football and basketball teams during his Freshman year.

Johnson surely didn't see a major spike in his recruiting process come as quick as it did, as he's picked up offers in the past week from Michigan State and Michigan. Will's father, Deon Johnson played at the University of Michigan from 1990-1994.

"It’s been great getting offers, just knowing I have the opportunity to play at these colleges if I keep working," said Johnson who also holds offers from; Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, Florida Atlantic, and Toledo.

"I have a lot of time until college and need a lot of improvement."

The 6' 160 lbs Johnson broke out midway through the 2018 season following an incredible 1-handed interception.

Will Johnson has been with his Dad at Max Ex workouts for several years, so he's first hand gone up against dozens of Division 1 athletes before even taking a snap during high school.

Will credits his Dad, Deon and Max Ex/Sound Mind Sound Body director Curtis Blackwell with being mentors to him, "they just said I still have some work to do and keep improving," said Will Johnson on how they keep him motivated.

Johnson is expected to be one of the highest ranked 2022 prospects in the state by the time he graduates, so it was only fitting that UM and MSU extended early offers. Johnson commented on the feedback he's heard from the two programs, "they mostly like my size and skill set."
